Plot Summary

Vijay and Yakub are childhood friends who live in the slums of Mumbai. They work for a local gangster, Ramesh, who uses them to peddle drugs and other illegal items. They also have a friend, Ramesh's brother, who dresses as a transgender and helps them rob people. One day, they are falsely accused of killing a politician's son and are sent to a juvenile reform home. There, they face brutal torture and abuse from the warden and the senior inmates. Instead of reforming, they become hardened criminals and plan to take over the slum after their release.

Eleven years later, Vijay and Yakub are out of the reform home and have formed their own gang of slum kids. They aspire to rule the underworld and challenge Ramesh's authority. They also fall in love with two girls, Sandhya and Nirmala, who work as teachers in a school for slum children. However, their violent past catches up with them as they face enemies from both inside and outside the slum. They also realize the futility of their criminal lifestyle and seek redemption for their sins.

Movie Review

Allah Ke Banday is a dark and realistic portrayal of the lives of slum children who are exploited by the society and forced into crime. The movie does not shy away from showing the harsh realities of poverty, corruption, violence, and injustice that plague the urban underclass. The movie also explores the themes of friendship, love, guilt, and redemption through the characters of Vijay and Yakub.

The movie boasts of some powerful performances by the actors, especially Sharman Joshi and Faruk Kabir, who play the lead roles of Vijay and Yakub. They convincingly portray the transformation of their characters from innocent kids to ruthless gangsters to repentant souls. Naseeruddin Shah also delivers a memorable cameo as the sadistic warden who molds the boys into criminals. Atul Kulkarni, Anjana Sukhani, Rukhsar Rehman, Zakir Hussain, and Saksham Kulkarni also play their roles well.

The movie has a gritty and authentic look as it is shot in real locations in Mumbai's slums. The cinematography by Vishal Sinha captures the mood and atmosphere of the setting. The editing by Sandeep Francis is crisp and fast-paced. The music by Kailash Kher, Chirantan Bhatt, and Hamza Faruqui is decent but not very memorable.

The movie has some flaws as well. The plot is somewhat predictable and clichéd as it follows the familiar tropes of gangster movies. The movie also suffers from a lack of humor and light-hearted moments as it is too grim and serious throughout. The movie also has some scenes that are too graphic and disturbing for some viewers.

Conclusion

Allah Ke Banday is not a movie for everyone as it is a dark and depressing film that deals with some sensitive issues. However, it is a movie that deserves appreciation for its honest and bold attempt to portray the plight of slum children who are victims of circumstance. It is a movie that makes you think about the social problems that need urgent attention and action.
